Ad campaigns for your tiny cell phone screen get bigger
With readers fleeing newspapers and TV viewers zapping past commercials, advertisers are turning to the one device consumers can’t seem to escape: their cell phones. Mobile phones and wireless devices have quietly become the newest, hottest frontier for big brands from Pepsi to Nike, especially those itching to reach the coveted 18- to 34-year-old set. There are banner ads for Lexus, Burger King and Sheraton. A few companies are even customizing 10-second video ads for short, TV-style episodes for mobile phones. While the industry is in its infancy, ad campaigns for the tiny screen have increased sharply this year.

Here’s the story from Yelp.

The folks at Palm love Yelp and wanted to have access to all our “real reviews from real people” while they were out and about. Likewise, many yelpers have asked us for the same thing, so when Palm offered to team up and make it happen, we said “let’s do it!”

Well, Yelp’s here to solve all your mobile needs. Need a quick mani/pedi? Broke a heel? Got a craving for tacos? Yelp Mobile now gives you the best nail salons, shoe repair shops, taquerias and everything else local, whenever and wherever you need it.
