Demand for Mobile Access to Social Networking Sites Growing
According to Greenlight Wireless, MySpace is the first social networking site to appear among the top five most highly visited sites by Skweezer’s mobile users, which was determined by a weekly traffic report generated for the first week of August. Similar sites that allow users to share information and meet online, such as Flickr, del.icio.us, and Friendster, have also experienced rapid uptake by Skweezer users in recent months.

WWW in this case stands for Win/Win/Win. A news item on Recellular says that as the number of cell phones in use worldwide hits 2 billion and rising, recycled phones are playing a crucial role in the spread of wireless communications across the developing world, where land lines can be costly or unavailable.

ReCellular has more than half the U.S. phone recycling business. ReCellular gets 75,000 used phones a week – most collected in charity fundraisers – and refurbishes them for sale around the world. Executives say that the March of Dimes and other national charities benefit from the company’s purchase of donated phones. So the donaters and the charities are winning.

The odds are good that a refurbished cell phone from ReCellular will soon be in the pocket of a user in Bolivia, Jamaica, Kenya, Ukraine or Yemen. So it’s win again on a grand scale.
