An application filed with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office by Research In Motion will add an extra layer of security to its BlackBerry device. Users will carry their BlackBerries in a holster equipped with a transceiver. At a set time after the device is removed, the holster automatically will send a message asking the device to report in. If the user doesn’t respond with a secret code, the BlackBerry becomes an expensive paper weight.

So what’s the hang-up? Could it be that those who might supply the Pocket PC-ready websites are not sure there is sufficient demand from the current users of Pocket PCs. So which will come first: the supply or the demand?
It possibly isn’t a big factor, but could the non-politically correct name be at fault? Perhaps there’s a need for Purse PCs? If only .. , who knows what growth there might have been.
