A most interesting all-day event, Mobile Persuasion 06, will be taking place on Friday, November 10, 2006 at Stanford University, Stanford CA. The event is being sponsored by the Persuasive Technology Lab and Media X at Stanford University. The conference director is B J Fogg. Motorola has introduced the Motorola i670, a new multi-function mobile communications device loaded with technology-rich features. The clamshell-type device features a sleek, all black design and a large internal 130×130 color display.
Motorola announced plans that their upcoming models of mobile phones have pre-installed Yahoo Internet search capability, e-mail and address book.
The theme of the conference is Changing people’s beliefs & behaviors with mobile technology. Mobile Persuasion is for innovators, researchers, and companies creating mobile technologies. Applications include health, commerce, activism, social networking, addiction, advertising, gaming, and environmental conservation so there promises to be some most interesting sessions.
The Persuasive Technology Lab up till now may be best know for its research in Web credibility. The Stanford Guidelines for Web Credibility have become a standard in the web design field. They see their research in Web credibility as part of a larger project: to understand how computers can change what people think and do, an area which they have designated captology.
All in all it should be a very worthwhile event.
