On a day where I’ve twice written about Google’s new strategy, Mobile First, I was struck by the innovation displayed in an e-mail message I received from Vitaliy Levit, Co-Founder of Recess Mobile.
They have just launched a text message paging tool that fits right into this new Mobile Web world. Of course many restaurant goers have their cell phones with them so that gives many new opportunities.
Let’s say you walk into a restaurant on a busy Saturday night and instead of the hostess handing you a flashing buzzer pager, you just provide your cell phone number and the restaurant sends you a text when your table is ready. This allows you to browse nearby stores and do some shopping while you wait. At the same time this saves restaurants thousands of dollars each year because they don’t have to replace those expensive pagers.
All a restaurant needs is a $200 iPod Touch and an internet connection and they have a full-blown restaurant paging system sending texts to any cell phone. For more info, check out the Recess Paging System website.
I find that a truly creative application and is typical of what we will be seeing increasingly on the Web (Mobile of course).

Advancements in cell phone technology are crazy fast these days. Pretty soon everyone in the whole world will have a cell phone and not really need a computer. I cant wait..!!!
It makes eating out a lot more convenient which is always good news, waiting around can become tiresome.
I still find it hard to believe how popular mobile web browsing has become. When the new craze hit the world I was completely against it and didn’t think it would work hit off, boy was I wrong. It’s really amazing I think.
Not only is this useful for restaurant paging, but if you combined it with a customer database, you could use SMS for communicating specials, coupons and soliciting feedback about service quality.
The thing with technology is that it’s changing so rapidly. I acknowledge that it is going to reshape our daily life in major way.
The iPhone is a totally new prospect to mobile technology which has made the mobile more than a communication device. The iPhone functions as an iPod, media player, internet, camera phone, has a multi-touch screen and much more. At present, there are number of iPhone applications that belong to different categories. These applications include study applications for students, social networking applications, and many more. Students can use various types of iPhone applications which are helpful in studies, doing homework, preparing for exams, online tutorials, iPhone dictionary and many more.
People are already completely addicted to their smart phones. I guess you might as well embrace it and find new ways to keep them attached. I suspect their will be a lot of applications like this in the future.
