Everyone is rushing to run their lives through their mobile devices. However it’s rare that new technology has only benefits and no associated potential hazards. That’s well illustrated by a new study sponsored by Sun Microsystems of Canada. This shows that Canadian Companies are tackling security risks posed by MP3 Players and Mobile Devices. A news release on the study gives more detailed results and provides the following summary:
Canadian businesses are finally recognizing the need to protect themselves from risk by monitoring and managing the portable storage devices their employees bring to work, according to a recent national survey conducted by Ipsos Reid.
Poll results showed that 49% of senior leaders in mid- and large-sized businesses across Canada have established policies to prevent personal laptops and USB keys from entering the workplace and 30% have banned MP3 Players, such as iPods.
