Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Looks A Winner

Mobile or portable devices are clearly the future of the computing world.  Although iPhones and iPads have up till now been the market’s darlings, albeit at premium prices, Android is now coming up strongly.  An example of this is a tablet put out by Samsung that may well take the lead.  According to TechRadar, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is without doubt one of the best tablets yet to hit the shelves.

Free Online Touch Typing Tutor

I happened to see an online touch typing tutor and it brought back some pleasant memories but also raised some intriguing questions for the future.  I remember at university it made sense for me to acquire a Smith Corona typewriter and use that for typing my reports, since my handwriting was rapidly deteriorating given the speed at which notes must be taken.

Siri Is An Android Killer

As usual Apple has created major waves as it introduces new technology.  We are talking about the iPhone 4S with the Siri voice technology application.  Forbes with a two-step back-and-forth series has helped the hype.  Perhaps Siri is a Google killer.  Perhaps Siri is not a Google killer.  Given the growing importance of the mobile Internet, there are huge implications in how this conflict plays out.

Should smartphones be smart?  That is the question I should have asked earlier in the day.  What I did ask was, Is an iPhone still a phone with Siri.  I would have thought the answer was self-evident but of all people Andy Rubin (SVP of Mobile with Google) takes the contrary view.

Making Websites Mobile Friendly Is Better Than Nothing

I wrote a recent article entitled, Mobile-Friendly Is Not Enough. The concept of a mobile friendly website was the reason why this blog was formed more than five years ago.  The wisdom at that time supported the notion that a single URL should deliver an appropriate Web page whatever the device being used.  The idea suggested in this blog was that a multi-web practice would be better than the One Web Principle which was the goal of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
